Constitutional Rights
The Constitution secures your rights against government intrusion—that is, you have the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” without undue government interference. Unfortunately, governments often ignore your rights because either they don’t know any better, or they assume you just won’t do anything about it. I have observed public bodies violate the following constitutional and statutory rights with alarming frequency:
• Religious freedom;
• Freedom of speech;
• Right to bear arms;
• Freedom of Information Act & California Public Records Act requests; and
• Informal discovery requests.
Sadly, this list is by no means inclusive.
The good news is you have more options than you probably think. I accept pro bono cases in select situations. If you think the government has violated your rights, please contact my office for a free consultation.
